Plot Outline: Four American soldiers who are in Iraq are sent on a mission to recover plates for printing 100 dollar bills that were used to print a billion dollars. After doing the job and returning to the base their commanding officer is killed in an explosion and the plates are stolen by another operative. They would be court martialed and sent to different prisons. 6 months later, the leader, Hannibal Smith is visited by a CIA spook who tells him he knows where the man who took the plates is and wants him and his men to recover it. So he helps him escape and he breaks out the others and they go after the plates. But after doing it, they discover that the spook might not be ok. And a military intelligence officer who was involved with one of them is pursuing them.

Plot:

But, while they were being transferred to that prison, this team managed to escape and secretly went into hiding in Los Angeles. I remember first hearing about this. Cautious optimism was among myimmediate reactions. Later, I caught a trailer(on that, do not thinkfor a second that you saw all the good stuff, there's plenty theydidn't give away). I was still not sure what to think. Then I watchedit tonight. I enjoyed every single frame. No, I'm not kidding, thisworks from the very start and never loses you. I love the show, andthis pays a lot of respect to it(at times, a tad much... early on,Neeson's every other line contains the word "plan"), and this not onlynails the four characters(who all get an unforgettable introductioneach, and several individual heroic moments), it doesn't merelyimitate, but builds and slightly reinterprets to update them. They areplayed rather well; Liam looks like he was born with that cigar in hismouth, Bradley genuinely is charming and suave, Sharlto(from District9; he reverts to his dialect here and there) comes across as a lunaticwithout that making us dislike him, and Jackson... well, he looks cool,he's not asked to do anything he can't handle, and he's certainly gotmore charisma than any other wrestlers on the silver screen(or VinDiesel). The acting is in general marvelous, and every role iswell-cast. Everybody is a bad-ass in this(on/off at least), and thatdoes get old every now and then. Biel is largely eye-candy(as is allother females in this), though we know that she can do this kind ofthing, and she doesn't let us down. The dialog wants to be as cleverand full of banter as 2008's Iron Man, and this leads to it trying toohard some(with that said, two thirds of it works perfectly, and it'snot a complete buzz-kill when it doesn't). It is hilarious a lot of thetime, and the half-full theater I was in all clearly got a kick out ofit. This is two hours of pure fun with non-stop, awesome action thatdoesn't repeat itself, with shoot-outs, chases and fights. It's notrealistic, and it's not meant to be. The plans are *brilliant* andseeing them gather materials for them is a blast. This keeps to animmensely fast pace, without overwhelming us, and it fits in plenty ofwell-thought out plot(that doesn't confuse, in spite of twists andsuch, that hold up). The script is by the guy who did Wolverine,Swordfish and Hit-man and a rookie; however, maybe because of help fromthe director(who I've only seen one other thing by, his outstanding TheHire short), they turn in something magnificent. FX areplentiful(occasionally overshadowing the people... be careful,Carnahan), and excellent with a few brief poor bits. The editing istight, cinematography stylish. While it's black and white,switch-off-your-brain-at-the-door, Hollywood popcorn flick, it doesn'tclaim or attempt to be anything else, and it's an utterly well-made andre-watchable one at that. There is a little strong language andbrutality to the violence in this(no blood). I recommend this to fansof the television series who don't have impossible-to-reachexpectations, and everyone who can get into a movie that justentertains you for a solid 120 minutes. 8/10
